As I mentioned in last week’s entry,
I’ve recently been filming a flurry of videos
for "Worst of Me, Best of You" from my Mind Cycles EP.
I've been feeling inspired lately by the lyrics
that I feel are quite relevant today.
Or maybe I’m the only one?
I don’t know, maybe you relate to this too…
Finding yourself in situations where
you don’t feel like you can express how you truly feel.
You want to follow what your heart is saying,
but allowing the fear of being judged or rejected
to prevent you from expressing your truth.
In these moments it helps me to realize
that just because it’s difficult to
express what’s in my heart
doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
It means expressing myself in the past hasn’t felt safe.
And it also helps me to realize
that even if I think someone won’t understand or agree
when I express what’s in my heart
I can still express it with a heart full of love
for those who don’t understand.
Because honestly?
It’s okay if they don’t understand.
They don’t need to understand me.
Only I need to understand me,
and embrace everything I find within:
the Light AND the Shadow.
There is no point in fighting it.
No point in fighting anyone who doesn’t understand.
Just a heart full of love for them
and myself
because we’re allowed to see things differently.
That’s what makes humanity so beautiful because
regardless of different viewpoints, cultures, beliefs…
We’re all One.
Anyway, that’s what these lyrics
have brought up for me recently.
I came on here to talk about filming my latest video
but got carried away in deeper stuffs lol.
So I took my family out to the desert to film this next video.
There is a two-lane road that we found exploring…
In one direction it looks like an old highway that goes on for miles
but on the other end it’s a dead end
which allows us to safely film.
My 11 year-old son is getting super good at filming.
He loves getting paid when he helps his dad out too haha.
For this video I had my wife Sarah hop in the driver’s seat
while I was playing guitar in the truck bed.
I wanted her to go fast while I was standing up in the truck bed with my guitar
But she was worried I would get thrown out into the road so she wanted to go suuuuuuuper slow.
Well as per most of the time,
the Mrs. was right ;)
When I stood up in the truck bed to play guitar
she started driving off reeeeeally slow
but it FELT like it was 50 miles per hour haha
and even going slow, I DID feel like I was about to be thrown out of the truck lol
SO I had to edit the video later to make it look like I was driving off much faster than we really were.
It turned out pretty cool still though, I think.
It felt amazing rocking out on guitar with
the wind blowing in my face & hair
in the back of a moving vehicle.
I felt like a freaking SUPER hero HA.
Anyway, in case you didn’t see it on social media already..
here are the links to the final video posted on Facebook and Instagram.
Hope you enjoy! Until next week!
