LYRICS

What is on the outside

Of walls that ever close

Are we getting buried under

Lies we’ll never know

Holding up the inside

Like chemicals erode

But freedom on the upside

Captive if we don’t

We cannot be sold

Turning in the light for this

Power for the lost mind

Living in the night for this

Is all you can decide

In your mind

You can do no wrong with all your lines

Doesn’t matter if we say no

What matters is you say so

Well show me to the door

I’ll let myself out

We are not hypnotized

Faking likeness in your eyes

Fallen order, falling cold

We cannot be sold

Turning in the light for this

Power for the lost mind

Living in the night for this

Is all you can decide

In your mind

You can do no wrong with all your lines

Doesn’t matter if we say no

What matters is you say so

Well show me to the door

I’ll let myself out

Thank you very much I don’t need your alibi

If you tell me that I’m lost then I’ll never waste your time

Thank you very much I don’t need to fall in line

If I follow who I am then I can’t be bought with lies

In your mind

You can do no wrong with all your lines

Doesn’t matter if we say no

What matters is you say so

Well show me to the door

‘Cause in my life

This was never what I had in mind

Doesn’t matter if you say so

What matters is I say no

Just show me to the door

I’ll let myself out

SONG LORE

Recording Process

If you’ve been following in the private FB group or Discord server for FUTURE SPHERE, you’ve seen me talking about trading in my old acoustic guitar for a new one. The new one comes all the way from Australia. I’ve been shopping for new acoustic guitars and no matter how many I played, I was never satisfied with the sound. There is a certain brand I’ve had my eye on for a while (Cole Clark guitars), but I could never find any sold locally. Finally I decided to buy one online. I was worried about not liking it when it arrived, but sure enough I instantly fell in love as soon as I unboxed it. This song is the first official song I recorded the new acoustic guitar on!

Because this is an acoustic version, it didn’t need much else besides vocals and acoustic guitar. Recently my 5 year old daughter went with me to the guitar shop and begged me to buy her a cute little pink egg shaker haha. Well, as you probably guessed it, I used that on this song too. It’s subtle, but it’s in there. :) As far as other percussion, there is a subtle tapping on the guitar that I recorded in certain sections of the song to give it a bit more rhythm.

I hope you enjoy this unique, raw, stripped-down acoustic version of this song!
