This album is really starting

to grow into something I never

would have thought possible.

And what really sealed the deal

for me in that regard

was this most recent song

I started recording this week

called “Beautiful, Terrible”.

And YES that is also

the name of the new album.

This song is THE title track

of the album.

The epitome of it all.

I’ve had it in my back pocket

for a LONG time

except I didn’t have a bridge for it

until this last weekend.

And I absolutely love what

I came up with for it

(if I do say so myself, lol…

but hey! You gotta love what you

create right? If you don’t,

why are you creating it

in the first place? haha…)

Anyway, the bridge is

very explorative,

changes keys a few times,

and gets pretty dark.

I’ve never written anything

quite like it EVER.

More on that though on

the Songs-In-Progress page

I wanted to talk in this post

more about what

“Beautiful, Terrible” actually means.

Complete opposite words

of each other.

It goes hand in hand with the whole

Shadow / Light concept

I explored in my choose-your-own

adventure experience.

And that is…

you can’t have beautiful in life

without the terrible.

Life is very dualistic.

There could be beauty

all around a person

and yet it wouldn’t be

distinguishable as beauty

without a contrast of terrible things

around them too.

I don’t know why this fascinates me

so much.

I guess it’s because it helps me

appreciate when the difficult times

do happen in my life.

Having this overview perspective

really helps me embrace the terrible

because it allows me to

recognize the beauty even more.

Can’t wait for everyone to hear

this song when it’s finished!

I’m off to go create the

songs-in-progress page for it now!
