<<- STUDIO JOURNALS

May 22, 2024 ->

June 6, 2024

Whelp in spite of getting sick for

a second time in the last MONTH,

I managed to write and record

TWO instrumental tracks in the

last two weeks.

Both of which are available to

listen to in the Future Sphere

Facebook group or the #album-

creation channel in the

Future Sphere Discord.

The thought behind writing these

instrumental tracks for the album

was to introduce each half of the

album. With the album being called

“Beautiful, Terrible” the original

thought was to have half the album

be in a “terrible” vibe and the

other half in a “beautiful” vibe.

With the whole concept being that

in order to appreciate the

beautiful in life, it is necessary to

also experience the terrible.

Anyway, in spite of wanting half of

the album to be in a “beautiful”

vibe, overall this is actually turning

out to be the darkest album I’ve

written to date. Even so, I have

learned that for my own life that

there is beauty in the darkness and

I’ve been wanting to embrace that

dark side more with this record.

All this said, the first instrumental

track on the album will actually be

titled “Terrible”. Then the track

listing will include 5 songs after

that before hitting the next

instrumental track called

“Beautiful”.. after which 5 more

songs will follow.

I’m SO excited for all of this coming

together, and I’m very proud of

these fun instrumental tracks.

The idea too is to include some

“radio space transmission chatter”

back and forth to have kind of it’s

own space-themed short story

across the two tracks. Sam and I

plan on recording those with our

own voices once we get rid of this

illness that has plagued our

household lol. As far as other work

I’ve done this week. I’ve spent a

total of probably around 16 hours in

the last few days on the first SONG

on the album titled “Shadow/Light”.

This song will follow the intro track

“Terrible”.

My friend in LA has been

sending guitar parts for this, but

the further I’ve dug into them in

the studio I’ve realized that there

is a difference in guitar tone and

amplifier tone between that song

and the new intro track.

I decided I wanted “Shadow/Light”

to sonically come from the same

place as “Terrible” so I had to

re-record almost ALL of the guitar

parts for Shadow/Light.

My friend James from LA did a

great job of writing some really

cool guitar parts which will still

be included in the song just

re-recorded in my studio to keep

the guitar sound consistent.

It literally took me 8 hours just to

re-record all the guitar parts in the

opening 8 bars of the song because

in my mind they are SO important

being the first 8 bars of the album

after the intro track.

And I’ve yet to re-record bass on

those 8 bars too. I’ll be getting to

that today after packing more CD

orders for tomorrow’s shipment.

That ALSO reminds me, we voted on

names for my bass guitar in the

Discord haha! I think we have a

winner, but I have to review the

votes in the #voting channel and

then announce the winner this

week too.

Thankfully I think I’m personally on

the mend from whatever sickness

has hit our home. I went to one of

those IV clinics yesterday where

they pump your veins full of

vitamins to help you get healthy or

to help stay healthy. Sarah thought

she was coming down with the same

illness so she went with me. She

feels great today so hopefully that’ll

prevent her from getting hit with it

a second time like I did. I think it

was super helpful for me too but

this is day 10 of this nasty bug

(after already having it or

something else mid May).

Maybe all the stress of trying to get

this album done by my goal of my

birthday in August is only adding to

my body’s immunity weakness, but

either way I’m in crunch time mode

to try to hit that goal still!

Stay tuned for more!
