Been a productive week!
Been working on the final mix
for “Find Yourself”
which mainly involves
mixing and editing the drums
to sound good.
I also reached out to
my mastering engineer
to hopefully send it in
to him by this weekend.
Tonight I’ve been scrolling through
old sound recordings on my phone.
I think I’ve mentioned
here before that
whenever I have an idea
whether on the guitar,
or a vocal/lyric idea,
I play/sing it into my phone
to come back to later.
It’s wild because I got
as far back as July 2020
and finding a ton of
great stuff that honestly
I have no recollection
coming up with!
Almost like a different version
of Nate wrote them!
Well for tonight’s entry
I just wanted to post
one of them here that
feels more on the darker side
(def Shadow Path vibes… ha)
but it has a really
cool angst about it.
Before listening to it
you should know that
I don’t normally try to
sing great in these LOL.
Often times when I
record stuff into my phone
I’m trying not to
wake up Sarah or the kids
so I sing very quietly
almost in a whisper
and it’s kind of hard to
make out what
I’m singing or saying haha.
So I’ll go ahead and
provide lyrics below too:
Hey man I won’t say that you don’t size up to this right of pride
You only show that you don’t know if you can’t shut the mind
Well keep out of my head with your unfed sense of appetite
Cause this isn’t over I will show for what you can’t deny
I’ve seen the ghost but it doesn’t make this right
Something to hide
For saying nothing you’re telling something with the story broken
Enough with the get-up can’t make this shit up with the chest wide open
‘Cause I’ve had enough, you’ve said enough, fed up, so done with the narrative
Never mistaken interpretation only coward only sin
Whelp there’s that! haha
And looks like I didn’t
have a name for it yet
so I called it,
“Attitude song” baha
I definitely think there is
something to work with there.
The little intro/outro guitar riff
has potential too although
I played it very wonky
in the recording,
I can hear in my head another
intertwining higher guitar part.
We’ll see if this can make it
onto the album but
we’re on such a tight schedule
that it might have to wait.
Stay tuuuuuuuned!
